Howdy Wilcox was an American race car driver from Indiana who became famous for competing in the Indianapolis 500. He won the Indianapolis 500 in 1919 and later became known as one of the skilled drivers of the early years of the race. Wilcox continued racing for several years before retiring and died in 1920.
