Held near Carl Fisher Mausoleum. Howdy Bell was Master of Ceremonies. Donald Davidson was featured presenter. Re-enactors of Indianapolis Motor Speedway Founders Arthur Newby, Frank Wheeler, Carl Fisher, and James Allison appeared at their respective gravesites.
Tour Summary
Crown Hill Racing Legends honors the many drivers, car builders, race officials, and other people connected to Indiana’s racing history who are buried at Crown Hill Cemetery. The tour includes Indianapolis Motor Speedway founders such as Carl Fisher, James Allison, Arthur Newby, and Frank Wheeler, along with famous drivers and racing figures. Together, the memorials preserve Crown Hill’s connection to the Indianapolis 500 and Indiana’s long history as a center of automobile racing.
