Honoree Biography Summary

Paul Hazen was an Indiana racecar driver and later a highly successful sprint-car owner who began racing in 1957. He drove for about 10 years, winning races and track championships, before concentrating on owning and developing race cars and drivers. His famous No. 57 cars went on to win hundreds of feature races and numerous championships with drivers including Tony Elliott, Jon Stanbrough, Dave Darland, and Jeff Gordon.

Thanks to the O’Connor Family and all at Kokomo Speedway for welcoming IRMA as part of the opening night of Smackdown! Thanks to Rick Dennison and crew for making the marker possible. The marker will be on display in the 5th Turn Pub at the track through Smackdown, then will be mounted permanently. The event and racing were televised on FloRacing TV.
