Honoree Biography Summary

Erwin G. Baker was an American long-distance motorcyclist and automobile driver who became famous for his record-setting journeys across the United States. He completed numerous coast-to-coast trips, proving the reliability of automobiles and motorcycles during the early 1900s. Baker’s achievements earned him the nickname “Cannon Ball” Baker, and he became an important figure in early American transportation history.
